Baby Mavericks arrival was much anticipated! He was born on thanksgiving day in Winston Salem and spent his first few days in the NICU. Thankfully he got to come home after a relatively short stay. I had the honor of grabbing fresh 48 photoshoot for him in the NICU, and then photographing him again once he came home. Here are some things I love about an in-home newborn session:

1. Comfort and Familiarity

One of the biggest advantages of an in-home session is the comfort and familiarity it provides. The first few days with a newborn can be overwhelming as you adjust to the new rhythms of life—having a photographer come to you in this time can feel much less stressful than trying to pack up your newborn and make it to a studio.

In the comfort of your own home, you’re surrounded by your baby’s things: their crib, their blankets, the nursery you’ve lovingly prepared, and the cozy corners where they’ll spend their first months. These personal elements can add a level of warmth and authenticity to your photos, creating images that feel intimate and true to your family’s story.

2. Personal Touches

Your home and nurserys aesthetic adds a personalized touch that can’t necessarily be replicated in a studio.
