Brittany was my college roommate and good friend so of course when she asked me to photograph her 3rd baby in their home in Raleigh North Carolina, I was ecstatic. I had the honor of taking her 1st sons newborn photos as well. Their house gets such great natural light, which made these extra fun. I love in home sessions for several reasons. 1. The kids don’t have to leave their “safe place” and therefore are a lot less camera shy!
2. AC and heat controlled 😉 duh!
3. Capturing all the little details of the home and babys nursery
4. Its the most comfortable for mama postpartum
5. Candid shots of the family doing their “normal” thing! Whether this is playing with toys, reading books, making breakfast..etc.

I don’t travel outside of Winston Salem for newborn sessions super often, but love when I get to go to another town for photos. Raleigh is such a fun city so sometimes I make a day of it. Baby Charlie was extra cuddly and sweet for his photoshoot. We spent the first portion of time letting the big kids warm up to me. This meant allowing them to snuggle and read with mom and dad while I took photos in the background. Those honestly ended up being some of my favorite images. I am a sucker for “documentary” style photos, which is why I love birth photography so much. I will attach some of my favorites below!
