Doona
This thing is magical. Having a 3rd kid is a game changer when it comes to getting everyone in and out of the car .. etc. I cannot tell you the ease it has been to pop this thing out and turn it directly into a stroller. I’m already dreading the day he outgrows it. It’s not bulky or heavy which is a huge plus. I hate folding and unfolding bulky strollers (nevermind fitting them intro your trunk.) The doona is worth its weight in gold to me!
Sleep consulting
We used Amy with Rhythms of Rest as our sleep consultant (aka miracle worker). Prior to reaching out, I hadn’t had a 3 hour stretch of sleep in 6 months. After using Amy we went from multiple night wakings, (often bed sharing) and many feedings per night to sleeping happily and peacefully in the crib until morning. A lot of people will tell you that’s developmentally normal .. etc. but for working parents who need sleep and sanity to function, something’s gotta give! 😉 It was so nice to have an outside perspective and someone to offer gentle guidance and encouragement. I think everyone should have a fund for this on their registry!
Newton mattress
It’s breathable, washable, and nontoxic! It’s also comfortable. 5 stars over here! My baby was constantly trying to roll and sleep on his tummy and I really needed the peace of mind that when he was face down on his tummy, he could breathe easy.
Formula Kettle
One thing we taught mamas when I worked on the postpartum floor at the hospital was to sterilize powdered formula. There’s a very slight chance that bacteria can live in the powder and because of this, the APA recommends sterilizing the powder until babies guts are more mature. (Usually 2-3 months). The kettle eliminates the steps in boiling and cooling water while guessing & trying to measure temperature. Not to mention if you pour boiling water into the powder it can break down some of the nutrients .. it’s just complicated. Insert the formula kettle! This thing stays on 24/7 over here. We set it at a certain temp at all times so it’s constantly ready to go! It’s also safe to leave on overnight making middle of the night bottles incredibly simple!
Baby’s brew warmer
This little warmer is so great for on the go! It works for both breastmilk and formula and is amazing. For those who don’t know, I am unable to breastfeed due to having a mastectomy. A friend of mine gave me some donor milk this pregnancy so I use this when I’m using donor milk and am on the go. It’s small enough to toss into a diaper bag which is a big benefit.
Sterilizer
If you like to sterilize bottles, pacis.. etc than this thing if for you! It holds 6 bottles and has a tray on top for bottle parts, pump parts, and whatever else you want to throw in there! My favorite part is that it’s also a dryer! Start to finish it’s about 40 minutes. This is a ton easier than waiting to run a dishwasher or boiling things.
Timer tippe formula cups
This is a super simple 4$ favorite of mine! I tried those formula dispensers and they would be hard to open or spill out while trying to dump them. (By they way we use Kendamil which I highly recommend if you’re looking for a good formula). These cups are phenomenal. I use Dr browns bottles but carry this cups in my diaper bag and could probably dump one in while standing on my head. Mess free and easy!
Dreamland baby sleep sack
I can’t speak to the safety of weighed sleep sacks, but we loved this! It was definitely my baby’s favorite sleep sack (and believe me I owned them all). I think it made him feel cozy and safe , as if my hand was on him. They are pricey but you can typically get them second hand !
Ayla and co bag
I wanted a more stylish diaper bag this go round. I love the leather back packs so I looked into serval! What caught my eye about this one was 1) allll the pockets & storage space and 2) it opens from the front!!! We all know that with deep bags things just get lost in the abyss. Being able to open a bag from the front instead of digging around is amazing!
Good ole fashion swing
Y’all I tried the mamaroo and the smaller, fancier, more aesthetically pleasing swings. My babies hated them. With all 3 kids I resorted back to the bulky, kinda tacky but cozy swing and they all LOVED it! These may take up space but they come with lots of naps and free time.
