I love putting together outfits for newborn photo sessions! I know for some, this may seem like a daunting task and that is why I am here to help! It is genuinely one of my favorite parts of session prep. There are several big box stores that are great for photo sessions, but if I can shop small and local, I do! I am all about supporting my community and therefore I am going to share some of my favorite local shops for childrens clothing in Winston Salem!

Rollys baby boutique carries everything from baby gear and nursery essentials to toys and the sweetest childrens clothing. If you are looking for an heirloom gift to display or include in your newborn photos, this is the place to go! Not to mention they carry some of my favorite brands of clothing: Kissy Kiss, Magnetic Me, and The Beaufort Bonnet Company. (Everyone knows I love a sweet bonnet on a baby)

Bella+James is absolutely adorable! This is my go-to for a baby shower gift. They carry some of the most precious little pieces I have ever seen. You can find anything from crafts and play dough sets (if you have not seen these, run), to apparel and wellness. My personal style of clothing for photo sessions is a more classic, simple yet dainty look! Bella + James checks all of my boxes in the clothing department. (give me all the rompers and bubbles!).

McCalls is tucked away in Reynolda Village, which is my favorite part of my little town! I photograph families in Reynolda gardens often, and this is right beside it. (along with doughjoes, the best little coffee shop.) McCalls is known for carrying traditional, classic, and timeless clothing. Think smocks, ruffled baby gowns, and longtalls.

Pinwheels is a botique childrens thrift shop in Winston Salem that donates all proceeds to The Parenting Path. “The Parenting PATH works to prevent and treat child abuse and neglect by strengthening families, enhancing parent/child relationships, and creating safer more stable communities.” I love that there is a store in our community where you can shop while also giving back in such a positive way. I have found several childrens pieces for my client closet here from high end brands!

Chameleon Kids is another local thrift shop in Clemmons. It can be hit or miss with clothing, but it is worth trying out before purchasing from a bigger box store! While you are there, you will probably find lots of toys in great used condition as well.
