There’s something especially meaningful about photographing a newborn in the place they’ll grow up. This in-home newborn session in Winston-Salem, North Carolina was a perfect reflection of that kind of tenderness.
Sweet baby Stella was welcomed into a dainty nursery filled with pale pink and gold accents, a space that felt both elegant and incredibly warm. Every detail, from the delicate textiles to the subtle metallic touches, created a serene backdrop that complemented her perfectly without ever overpowering the moment.
One of the most special aspects of this session was the blend of mediums: both 120mm film and digital photography were used to document these early days. Film brought a softness and timeless quality with gentle grain, creamy tones, and a depth that feels almost tangible. Digital allowed for crisp, true-to-life captures of fleeting expressions and those in-between moments that happen so quickly with a newborn.
Stella slept peacefully through much of the session. We kept everything baby-led and relaxed, allowing plenty of time for snuggles, feeding breaks, and simply soaking in the rhythm of the morning.
There’s a quiet magic in photographing families at home. No rushing, no pressure: just the natural unfolding of connection.
Sessions like this are a reminder that the most meaningful images often come from the simplest moments. A yawn, a stretch, a tiny hand wrapped around a finger. The beginning of everything, documented just as it is.
Welcome to the world, Stella. You are already so deeply loved.
